It’s another Camp Gritty makeup look! I spent way more time and effort on my makeup this year than last year. Camp is such a fun and free space to express myself, so why wouldn’t I take advantage of that? I never get to wear colorful makeup in my everyday life so it was fun to try something new! I’m not going to sugar coat it: I hate football. It’s fun to watch the Super Bowl, but I don’t care for it at all the rest of the year. Up until a few weeks ago I thought Gronk was a hockey player and never saw a photo of Tom Brady. But when the Super Bowl comes around, I get excited. I love the excitement and pressure of the game, the delicious food and of course, the funny commercials. Now that I live in New England I have to root for the Patriots, so I created this Pats-inspired Super Bowl makeup. Find out how I got it down below!
March was the month of nail polish for me. Nail art goes in phases for me, but March was the month of nail art and trying new nail polish. But thankfully this month was also the month of trying new and exciting products and falling in love with an old favorite. Find my loves for the month down below!
It’s been a while since I’ve worn some colorful eyeshadow. Back in high school and my first two years of college, I wore colorful eye makeup almost every day. I loved seeing people’s faces when I walked into class with bright red eyeshadow in my crease and insanely long false eyelashes to compliment it. But ever since the spring of my junior year, I slowed down on the colorful eyeshadow. It was a mix of no time in the morning to get creative with the need to look professional that stopped me from wearing bright green on my lids, but I decided today was the day to change that.
For my eyeshadow, I went with my stand-by favorites: Makeup Geek. These eyeshadows are intensely pigmented and blend perfectly. For my crease, I started with Barcelona Beach. Next I added Bling as my lid color. This color is so beautiful! It has enough shimmer to draw attention, but it doesn’t have chunky glitter, which makes it perfect for everyday. On the lower lash line, I lined my eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Junkie. The blue base with green and gold shimmer was the perfect base for Pixie Dust and Peacock. I then added Corrupt in the crease for more definition and added Ice Queen as a pop of shimmer in the inner corner. I finished off with winged eyeliner and mascara.
For the face, I used Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation in 0.5. This shade is the lightest in the range but is still too dark for me. When foundations are too dark, I add Stargazer White Foundation to lighten it up. I wanted a bright blush, so I opted for Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blushing Bride. For a glow, I applied MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade to my cheek bones, nose, cupid’s bow and right under my brow bone. For my lips I used MAC Snob.
Wearing this look made me realize just how much I miss wearing colorful eyeshadow. When I do, I feel like myself and that I can take on anything that comes my way. I know that once I get into the work world I won’t be able to strut into work with glitter-filled eyeshadow on my eyes, but until then, I think I’m going to enjoy every moment I can get away with it.
